Besa block retainer walls are generally the cheapest most cost effective way to build a retainer wall, retaining the drainage, gravel fill and soil behind the retainer walls requires the blocks to be core filled with small aggregate based concrete. Also for high walls, the walls must accommodate steel reinforcement inside the block work vertically and horizontally, this reinforcement must be in situ to the footing below the wall, prior to laying the blocks. Blow out holes are normally along the bottom row of the blocks to enable the blocks to be cleaned out after they are laid. once the blocks are clean then the blow out holes need to be blocked off prior to the concrete being poured in. as the blocks are filled a concrete vibrator is used to vibrate the concrete so as to eliminate any air holes and compact the concrete.
